The Preliminary Program for Groene Peper 2025 is Live!

On Friday, May 23, 2025, education professionals, students, and researchers will gather at The Hague University of Applied Sciences for a day filled with inspiring sessions, interactive workshops, and valuable networking opportunities. This year, we explore the theme “What is Justice in Transitions?”

What to expect?
✔️ Featured Speakers – We are excited to welcome Mieke Lopes Cardozo, Bas van den Berg, and Koen Wessels, who will guide participants in integrating justice into their educational practices.
✔️ A diverse range of sessions and workshops, divided into five thematic tracks:

  • Collective Responsibility: From conscious consumption to social justice.
  • Creativity, Design, and Art: Discover how art and design shape transitions.
  • Rights for Nature: How can we give ecosystems a voice in our society?
  • Building Bridges in Learning Environments: Practical tools for inclusive and just education.
  • Justice in Institutions: From sustainable policies to inclusive decision-making.

✔️ Plenary sessions such as the Rachel Carson Graduation Prize, Sustainabul and the Sustainability Challenge, recognizing outstanding initiatives and research.
✔️ Networking opportunities with students, educators, and professionals from vocational, applied, and academic education.

The day kicks off with a non-traditional interactive plenary session“Experiencing the World”—more details coming soon! After that, you can join workshops such as:
🔹 “Injustice on Sneakers” – Exploring inequality and responsibility in consumption.
🔹 “Biomimicry Design Jam” – Learning from nature to create sustainable designs.
🔹 “Equity in Action” – Enhancing multi-stakeholder collaboration in education.
🔹 “Justice in Food Systems Transformations” – The future of sustainable food systems.
🔹 “Sustainable Didactics: Eco-Justice in the Classroom” – How to discuss climate and justice in education? With insights from the book Sustainable Education: Fair, Inclusive, Hopeful, this session provides educators and researchers with tools for meaningful discussions in the classroom.
