Omniconomics, the science that will redesign the global economy and create an intrinsically sustainable world.

Thursday 19 mei: 16:00 – 16:45
All catastrophical threats of our time have a major cause in the inadequacy of present-day economics: a discipline that claims to be a science, but in reality is far from it: it’s a protoscience, which mixes scientific fragments which metaphysical and magical thinking.
In order to really solve the big issues, ranging from climate change and the ‘sixth extinction’ to market collapses and rapidly growing inequality, we need a brand-new vision. The customary sustainability approach, through SDGs and circular economy, doesn’t go deep enough: the fundaments of the global economic system need to be redesigned.
For this purpose, Niko Roorda proposes an entirely new, interdisciplinary science, which he calls Omniconomics. In his paper, he describes the path along which this can be developed, applying concepts like complexity, network theory, virtual reality, and self-organization.
Next, he proposes to researchers, students and educators a range of activities, through which they can take an active role in the development and application of Omniconomics, together creating a whole new approach to sustainability.
